School Uniform Project 2023
Thanks to the generosity of communities in Ballybeen, Ballysillan, Glengormley, West Belfast and the Shore Road in North Belfast, the ROC School Uniform Project 2023 helped 652 children with uniforms for the new school year. We are grateful for the support of churches providing their halls as pop-up shop venues, for many giving their time to volunteer, for those who donated uniform items and for those who helped publicise the schemes.
Winter Coat Project 2023

Project Can Do!
Over the past year, we have piloted the Project Can Do! programme in Glengormley and North Belfast to help build stronger connections and showcase the valuable support services in these communities.
Following the success of these programmes, we're seeking opportunities to host Project Can Do! in other areas. So what is Project Can Do?
Project Can Do is a positive community initiative helping improve basic life skills, reduce isolation, improve health and wellbeing and build stronger community connections. It is a tailored programme typically lasting between four to six weeks in a community setting such as a church hall, school or community centre. The programme can focus on general community support or on a specific theme such as health and wellbeing; cost of living or age-related i.e. retirees or parents/families.
The weekly 1.5 hour sessions focus on a specific topic with local support services showcasing their services to participants. The sharing of information through these talks as well as group discussions and resources encourages peer support amongst participants. The programme ends with a ‘Community Fair’ style event with participants receiving self-care goody bags.
Coffee & Connect
The last Thursday of each month is 'Coffee & Connect' at the ROCNI Office. It's time set aside specifically for Action Group members, leaders, friends and supporters of ROC to join the team for a cuppa and chat as well as meet others connected to ROCNI. Our next date is the 28th September and we'd love to see you!
You may have picked up on our social media that ROC Director and Founder Debra Green had surgery for an aneurism earlier this month. We're thankful that Debra is on the road to recovery and is now home after a two-week stay in hospital. Thank you to those who have prayed for her, sent well wishes and supported us during this time, they are all very much appreciated. The work of ROC continues and we're thankful for the new opportunities and community initiatives over the coming months. The NI Staff team are hosting a monthly online prayer gathering on the first Tuesday of each month, starting 5th September, from 1pm to 1.30pm. Get in touch with me, keevawatson@roc.uk.com, if you'd be interested in joining us and the zoom link will be sent to you.
